South Africa Guide, National Parks Guy

The Waterberg Mountains are one of the best places to go in South Africa when you are on the Highveld. It is Malaria-free, has many conservation a areas and private game reserves and it also has the Marakele National Park. The area is a transitional zone so the vegetation is perfect for animals and birds of a great variety.

Marakele National Park was briefly the Kransberg National Park, and has around 80km of roads in the park. Many of which are being upgraded and improved. The majority can take normal car and there is a 4×4 eco track that the park maintains. Although in heavy rains may be subject to closure.

There are many areas of interest in this national park, the Iron-Age settlements are not open to the public at present but they will be opened in the future to view. This is a tented and caravan park, and you should expect that outdoors feel when you arrive and stay here.
