The Brecon Beacons National Park is located in South Wales which is primarily a mountain range. It boasts the highest peak in Southern Britain, Pen y Fan, which has a height of 886m. The rocks on which the park sits is recognised as a Global Geopark within Europe. The Brecon Beacons National Park is really a special space.
The Brecon Beacons National Park have also been recognised as an International Dark Sky Reserve. The skies are brilliant for viewing the Universe from in a Country which has built up areas and high light pollution. This is a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle.
Even UNESCO have awarded Blaenavon a World Heritage Site, making the Brecon Beacons a rather special place to stay and visit! There are numerous burial cairns and remnants of the iron age are scattered all around.
The Brecon Beacons National Park is one of three National Parks in Wales, Snowdonia National Park and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
