This Dark Chanting Goshawk was one of a pair and when I noticed the first come flying in and perch just about, I could help but think that he had rudely awoken her from her sleep.
She still has her pj’s on with all those stripes, and the face is painted too!
The Dark Chanting Goshawk is a little mysterious too. When young it actually looks quite different to the adult you see here perched up on the tree branch.
As suggested by the name, this is a bird that is a little vocal at times. Making load sounds especially around breeding time.
They hunt from the tops of the trees for small prey, and may even hunt in the air.
Still, they will always look good at a 70’s disco with those legging, hey!
