The Machair is a unique place in Scotland. One of a kind for habitat and for bird watching.
The summer is filled with migrating birds stopping for a drink and refuel, but it is also home to a most amazing landscape.

Description
The Machair on the Western Isle of Scotland is a protected area of land that is unique to Scotland. Home to many birds, and evolved from the sands of the sea, this land is very special.
During the Summer the flowers blossom creating a meadow of colours bringing with it the ground nesting birds and travellers that are just stopping by on route to another far away country.
Behind me is the Atlantic and the next piece of land is Canada! These island are often battered by storms that gust well over 100 m/hr and yet on days like this you would think it was a tropical paradise.
It is very tranquil here, the people friendly and food good! You will even get a great night ‘oot’ in the local hotel with some live Scottish entertainment.
A bird watchers paradise, the Machair is a place you may want to put on your list of places to stop at, but if you are wanting a picture of paradise in a city filled with people, this may just do it for you.
Thank you for supporting me as I photograph the amazing places and wildlife wherever I visit. There is really so much more to see.
